Annual Food Drive

The Civil Service Council will have its annual Spring Drive from March 1-29. Special food and household items will be collected to support the School Street Food Pantry.

Highly requested items include:

Canned tuna or chicken
Spaghetti sauce
Peanut butter and jelly
Boxed dinners
Kitchen staples such as vegetable oil, flour, sugar, and spices
Condiments such as salad dressings

Other needed requests include:

Gluten-free products
Hygiene products (soaps, detergents, etc.)
Feminine products
Rice and grains
Vegan/vegetarian proteins
Shelf stable milks (dairy, soy, almond, coconut)

Opening last fall, the School Street Food Pantry serves area college students. Located at the First United Methodist Church, the pantry is a collaborative effort of Illinois State students and community members. Host your own! Not near a drop-off location? Grab a bin, box, basket or any container, print out a sign, and host your own food drive in your office. When the bin is full, drop it off at the nearest drop-off location, or call (309) 438-5272 to arrange a pickup.
